What was your best Star Wars Christmas ever? (and a Mandalorian Season 3 wishlist)

January 6, 2021

On this, the 59th episode of the WhoDatJedi podcast, your hosts -- Aaron Svoboda (@Aaron_Svoboda), Alfredo Narvaez (@NOLA_Fredo) and David Gladow (@davegladow) -- take a spin on Charles Dickens' classic "A Christmas Carol" by visiting their past, present and future Star Wars Christmases. Firstly, the group shares their favorite Star Wars Christmas memories. They then talk about what happened THIS year. And finally, they discuss what their perfect Star Wars gift for a future Christmas might be. They conclude the episode by revisiting all of the loose threads from "The Mandalorian" they'd like to see addressed in Season 3.

December 22, 2020

Welcome to the 58th episode of the WhoDatJedi podcast! Your hosts -- Aaron Svoboda (@Aaron_Svoboda), Alfredo Narvaez (@NOLA_Fredo) and David Gladow (@davegladow) -- are joined by returning guest Ryan Clark of the 501st to talk about Chapter 16 ("The Rescue") of "The Mandalorian," the live-action Star Wars series on Disney+. Reactions were mostly positive to an eventful season conclusion, though opinions were split on the effectiveness of some of the execution. Is this a good ending to Season 2? What about that crazy cameo? Where do we go from here? Is the Boba Fett news welcome? And when are Din and Grogu going to be reunited again?

The Mandalorian Season 2, Chapter 15: No more black and white

December 15, 2020

On the 57th episode of the WhoDatJedi podcast, your hosts -- Aaron Svoboda (@Aaron_Svoboda), Alfredo Narvaez (@NOLA_Fredo) and David Gladow (@davegladow) -- dive into Chapter 15 ("The Believer") of "The Mandalorian," the live-action Star Wars series on Disney+. The major topic of discussion on this week's show centers around Din's journey away from binary thinking, and how the motley crew around him is helping him through that -- particularly in the form of the character of Mayfield. Star Wars itself has often been very black and white, and this episode represents a shift in that thinking ... to mirror Din's. (Also, who is "The Believer?" Well, it's complicated.)

December 9, 2020

On this, the 55th episode of the WhoDatJedi podcast, your hosts -- Aaron Svoboda (@Aaron_Svoboda), Alfredo Narvaez (@NOLA_Fredo) and David Gladow (@davegladow) -- review Chapter 14 ("The Tragedy") of "The Mandalorian," the live-action Star Wars series on Disney+. It's a Mandalorian-heavy discussion, as one might expect with the return of Boba Fett taking center stage. The group also talks about Din's continued journey toward fatherhood (or a rejection of that), who Grogu might have been talking with, if Star Wars is better off in Disney's hands, and why for Dave this is the best episode of the series yet.

December 2, 2020

Welcome to the 54th episode of the WhoDatJedi podcast! Your hosts -- Aaron Svoboda (@Aaron_Svoboda), Alfredo Narvaez (@NOLA_Fredo) and David Gladow (@davegladow) -- break down Chapter 13, "The Jedi" of "The Mandalorian," the live-action Star Wars series on Disney+. One of the bigger talking points is of course the live-action debut of beloved character Ahsoka. They dive into the casting, the look, the portrayal, and the overall effectiveness of the performance. They also get into the meaning of the title of this chapter, and how it relates to Ahsoka herself. Beyond that, they speak to the massive reveals that occurred this week, the death of a Star Wars legend (rest in peace, David Prowse), and what we desire to see more of within the fandom.

The Mandalorian Season 2, Chapter 12: Deep Cuts

November 25, 2020

This is the 53rd episode of the WhoDatJedi podcast. Your hosts -- Aaron Svoboda (@Aaron_Svoboda), Alfredo Narvaez (@NOLA_Fredo) and David Gladow (@davegladow) -- review and dissect Chapter 12, "The Siege" of "The Mandalorian," the live-action Star Wars series on Disney+. This episode marks a welcome return of recurring characters Cara Dune and Greef Karga on the planet Nevarro (though if you look closer, each character seems to be on slightly different trajectories at the moment). What the chapter was also big on was some deeper cuts for longtime fans (which the group broke down for you) and some teases for future adventures (predictions abound!). Dave Filoni's influence continues to be felt in the way the show continues to fold in other movies, TV, books and video games, but also in the way he seems to have taken on the role of "caretaker" of Star Wars -- and the group also discusses that.

November 18, 2020

On the 52nd episode of the WhoDatJedi podcast, your hosts -- Aaron Svoboda (@Aaron_Svoboda), Alfredo Narvaez (@NOLA_Fredo) and David Gladow (@davegladow) -- welcome back Brittany N. Williams (@BrittanyActs) to the show to discuss “From a Certain Point of View: The Empire Strikes Back,” which she contributed to with a brand-new L3 adventure, and the whole group reviews Chapter 11 ("The Heiress") of "The Mandalorian," the live-action Star Wars series on Disney+. Brittany talks about the process of creating her story, from her pitch, to the writing/creation (including how she named her new characters), to the editing ... it's a fun story to hear! After that, the group settles in to discuss the latest Mandalorian-heavy chapter of everyone's favorite Disney+ show. Family and community continue to be major themes, but the group tries to answer such pressing questions as: Is the show working from a pacing perspective? Why does that big cameo make sense? Is the helmet thing finally resolved? And are we going to get more of sweater guy?

Rebels Season 4: Unafraid to get wacky

October 2, 2020

On the 46th episode of the WhoDatJedi podcast, your hosts -- Aaron Svoboda (@Aaron_Svoboda), Alfredo Narvaez (@NOLA_Fredo) and David Gladow (@davegladow) -- discuss Season 4 of "Star Wars Rebels," the animated series that takes place between Episodes III & IV. In keeping with the tone of the season, they get a little silly off/topic at times, but ultimately in the pursuit of something special. Season 4 is ALL about that, as the creators take the series in some pretty different directions, from Loth-Wolves and reincarnation (we think?), to the death of a major character (spoiler alert!), to the return of the space whales, all the way up to time travel in Star Wars (previously forbidden). Does all of it work? What are the best (and worst) episodes? And what do underoos have to do with any of it? All that and more on this week's episode!

They try to put the new imagery and sound into context within the first season's story and vibe -- how good of a continuation does it seem to be? They then break the trailer down scene by scene to look for clues as to the direction of Season 2. Will the Mandalorian find a home for Baby Yoda? Will he find other heroes along the way? That's because the news of the week once again illustrates a lack of planning in the sequel trilogy, a hot topic for your hosts.
